If you are reading this I do recommend the Particle Adventure to get some background on the standard model. Its great, covering everything from the ancient Greek conceptions to introductory particle physics. Explains things really well (The whole website does take a few hours to look through though...but its more in depth than the powerpoint notes that Rod gave us.).
